TUESDAY OF THE FIFTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

FIRST READING: Genesis 1:20 – 2:4a PSALM: Psalm 8:4-9 GOSPEL: Mark 7:1-13

Theme: God Said And Saw…

The power of God’s word to bring to birth what does not yet exist is as mysterious as God himself. By his spoken word we were created in his image and likeness. By his incarnate word he renews his image in us when we turn to Jesus in faith. 
 
Two striking phrases in the First creation account are “God said” and “God saw.” When God speaks, he looks forward to the fulfilment of his word. The time difference between the spoken Word and its actualisation is hidden in the womb of eternity itself and unknown to any human mind. 
 
From birth to death, each one of us is in the process of becoming. The goal is to reflect brightly the image of God. Until that happens we are an unfinished product (Gen. 1:26-27).
 
During his earthly ministry, Jesus frowned upon any attempt to distort the image of God in the name of religious tradition. In our Gospel text, he chastised the Pharisees and some scribes: “You leave the commandment of God, and hold fast the tradition of men…You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God, in order to keep your tradition!” (Mk. 7:8-9).
 
When we reject the Word of God, we blur the image of God in us and when we devote ourselves to the Word of God the beauty of his image becomes evident in us. 
 
PRAYER: Eternal Father, you spoke and I came into being. May the unfolding of your Word in my life reflect your goodness and make me a visible sign of your presence in the world. For the sake of Christ, I pray. Amen

Mass Schedules

In compliance with the COVID 19 protocols, you are required to book in advance for the Mass you wish to attend and observe all health protocols.

Sundays: First Mass- 7:00 a.m. Second Mass- 9:00 a.m. 
Weekdays: Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 6:30pm (Prayer precede the Mass at 6:15pm.) Holy Hour on Friday at 5:30pm)
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: 6:30am (Prayer precede Mass at 6:15am)
Sacrament Of Reconciliation: Saturday, 7am to 9am
Infant Baptism: Last Saturday of the month at 8am
Visit to the sick and aged: Every Tuesday
Holy Matrimony: Upon request
